Juan Soto, the 20-year-old outfielder for the Nationals, hit a big home run in the World Series game against the Astros last night.

HE’S 20! For someone his age to stand in the batter’s box and just make contact with the ball against arguably the best pitcher in the game right now, is really impressive. Add to that the World Series pressure, and all that. And he crushed that ball. But he can’t have a beer after the game.

Honestly, the drinking age thing always blows my mind about the US.  You guys have so many mixed messages on freedom and seemingly arbitrary government restrictions.

The re’s been a big push to raise the age to buy tobacco to 21:

That’s a big percentage of the nation’s population now at 21. Honestly I think it’s a bit absurd. I mean I don’t think people should smoke, but like with alcohol, I think it should be their choice (though it’s fine to tax it heavily, given the heavy healthcare costs smoking imposes ).
